Creating New Hard Card Images
1) Draw Image
The image can be drawn in the program of choice (Visio, Paint, etc.) but the following must apply:
- Must be able to save as a BMP file
- Size must be 583 x 288 pixels (approx. 6 x 3 inches)
- File name must be 8 characters or less
Recommended Steps:
- Draw the image in program of choice
- Save as a Windows Meta File (WMF) as this will make it easier to modify at a later date if needed
- Group all pieces together, 'Select All' and Copy
- Open Paint, go to Image/Attributes, change Width to 583 and Height to 288
- Paste image into Paint and Save as a BMP file
NOTE: All hard card images are currently saved in the Hardcard folder under the BoxPro directory. A current image could be opened and modified to save the time of creating a new image from scratch. If this is done, be sure to "Save As" a new file so the original image is not copied over.2) Link Image
Open BoxPro and go to Maintain/ Box Image Files/ Hard Card Images and the following screen will be displayed:

The following fields must be filled in:
- Image Code: Create a code for this image
- Description: Type in the description of this image
- Box Style: Choose the correct box style from the Pick List
- Sub Style: Choose the correct sub style from the Pick List
- Joint Type: Choose the correct joint type from the Pick List (NOTE: If there is no joint, then "NONE" must be chosen from the list)
- Joint on: Choose Left, Right or None
- File Name/File Path: Choose the correct image from file Pick List
After all the above fields are correctly filled in, make sure to SAVE.
3) Create Placeholders
Now that the new image is set up in BoxPro, placeholders for scoring need to be added. From the Box Image Style Maintenance screen, click Image Text and the following screen will be displayed:

Click Edit and then type in 8 characters (Recommended: ASCORE01, ASCORE02 and BSCORE01, BSCORE02, etc) everywhere that dimensions need to show. When finished, click Exit.

4) Image Values
Now that the scoring placeholders have been added, image values must be assigned. Click Image Values and the following screen will be displayed:

Assigning image values:
- Select a line and click Edit
- Choose the appropriate link value from the Display Link Value pull-down box. (Example: Choose A for the A scores, B for the B scores, etc.)
- Choose the appropriate sequence # from the Sequence # field. (Example: Choose 1 for the 1st A or B score, 2 for the 2nd A or B score, etc.)
- Repeat the above 3 steps for each label.
NOTE: If the values are not assigned properly (see above example: Label = ASCORE01, Link Value = As Is, Seq # = 1), the actual Label name (ASCORE01) is what will print on the image, not the actual dimension of the score.5) Test/Print Results
After all image values have been assigned, exit from the Image Link Values screen and click on Image Text to open the Image Values screen. From here, click Preview to display the results or Print to print the results.
Checklist:
- Make sure the Image Definition box at the top of the page has all the correct information (Image Code, Box Style, Box Sub Code, Joint Type, and Image Location).
- Make sure the placeholders (ASCORE01, BSCORE01, etc.) are lined up and placed where needed. Note: The actual scoring dimensions will print exactly where the placeholders are set up.
- Make sure there is a Link key and Sequence number associated with each Label code.
