Sales Tab

You see the following fields in the Sales tab of the Customer Maintenance dialog box:

Salesperson: Enter a two character code that identifies the salesperson, if any, for this customer. You can group various reports by Salesperson. Salespersons are maintained in System Manager.

Tax District: Enter a one to four character code for the sales tax district that corresponds to the percent of sales tax charged on this customer's purchases. This field is for reference purposes only, and does not control the amount of sales tax charged on this customer's invoices. However, you can generate the Sales Tax by Territory Report for a specific tax district.

Territory: Enter a two-character code for this customer's sales territory. The Sales Tax by Territory report is sorted using this code. You can define valid entries for this field using rules in System Manager.

Finance Charge: Enter the percentage you charge on this customer's past due amounts.

Price Code:

Credit Limit: Enter the maximum unpaid balance you permit this customer to have. If this amount is exceeded, a message alerts you each time you create a factory order or invoice for this customer.

To place a customer on credit hold, enter a negative number in the Credit Limit field. You can't create any new factory orders or invoices for this customer until you change the value in this field to zero or more.

Markup %: Enter a default markup percentage to be used in estimating. This overrides the systems default markup percentage.

Commn %: Enter a default percentage commission rate to be used for this customer. This value is for reporting purposes only.

Payment Terms: When you are adding a new customer, you can move the cursor into this field and click the PickList button to display a list of valid payment terms. The format for the terms fields is "[Discount %] / [Days to earn discount] / [Payment deadline]." For example, "1%, 20 days, Net 60." When you select one of these text summaries, the Payment Discount Percentage, Payment Discount Days, and Net Due Days fields use default information with their corresponding values.

You can type an entry directly into the Terms field, but the program still checks your entry against the list of acceptable choices. You can set up a rule in System Manager for validating terms entries.

Sales Category:

Payment Disc %: This field shows the percentage discount this customer receives, if any, for paying within a certain number of days. The value is copied from the terms description, which you can change when you create an invoice or order.

Payment Disc Days: This field shows the number of days in which the customer must pay in order to receive the payment discount. The value displayed is copied from the terms description, which you can change when you create an invoice or order.

Term Net Days: This field shows the total number of days in which the customer must pay invoices. The value is copied form the terms description, which you can change when you create an invoice or order.

Sales Discount %: Enter the percentage discount that is subtracted from all items this customer purchases, regardless of the payment terms. You can change this value when you enter an invoice or factory order. Don't confuse the sales discount with the payment discount, which is a discount the customer receives for paying an invoice within a number of days.

PST Tax %: For Canadian customer only.

General Tax %: Enter the sales tax percentage for this customer.
